What is an ergonomic/DSE assessment?
This service involves a detailed assessment of an employee's workstation, followed by an evidence-based report with tailored recommendations for adjustments to support their health and well-being at work.
What does the assessment entail?
The assessment includes a thorough evaluation of an individual’s desk, chair, equipment, lighting, and overall working environment. It can be conducted onsite by an Occupational Health clinician or via a video-based assessment with guidance.
Why Is a DSE Assessment Required?
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) identifies that if workers use display screen equipment (DSE) daily as part of their normal work, continuously for an hour or more, employers must conduct a workstation assessment. Employers should evaluate the entire workstation, including the equipment, furniture, and working conditions. They should also consider the tasks being performed and any special requirements of staff members, such as accommodations for individuals with disabilities. If any risks are identified, employers must take steps to reduce them.
Additionally, employers must carry out an assessment when a new workstation is set up, a new user starts work, changes are made to an existing workstation or its use, or employees report pain or discomfort.

What happens after the assessment?
A comprehensive report is provided to both the business and the employee, outlining the necessary changes and offering guidance on the steps to create a safe workstation. This report will be delivered within 24–48 hours of the assessment.
